Laptop Computer's Financing To Update Your Equipment

You should take a look at these promotions and analyze whether you can take advantage of them or not. Here are some tips on how to decide whether a particular promotion suits your needs or not.

Banks and financial institutions want to invest their money and thus they offer loans and lines of credit. Computer manufacturers want to sell their products and thus, associating with lenders widens their sales by making laptop computers more affordable. You, as a consumer can take advantage of this situation and shop around both for lenders and laptops and get the best offer possible. There are many bargains out there.

Credit Card Promotions On Laptop Computers

By associating with certain credit card issuers, manufacturers or retail companies offer their laptop computers payable in several installments with 0% APR. These offers are excellent as you can purchase your laptop on several payments without having to put all the money down. Some of them even offer a 10% discount on the retail price in order to attract more customers. It can actually end up being even cheaper than purchasing in cash.

What do they get in return? Well, the manufacturer or Retail Company gets to sell the products and the credit card issuer gets to retain you as a client for at least a year if you select 12 payments or two years if you select 24 and so on. These practices create fidelity at a very low cost for the credit card companies and though you may not pay interests for this particular purchase you will pay interests for all the others you make.

Small Loans For Laptop Purchases

These loans are offered by retail companies sometimes in association with financial institutions sometimes by creating a financial institution ad hoc. These loans feature advantageous terms and small installments to attract consumers. The idea is to make goods affordable when they would otherwise be rather expensive. With these small loans laptops are presented as affordable items because the purchase price is concealed behind the small installments.

These loans have simple qualification processes. Usually the only requirements for approval are some sort of identification along with a copy of a paycheck receipt or some other proof of income. Some retail companies will require only a copy of a credit card resume sent to your home to show proof both of income and residence. Thus, getting approved for these loans is fairly simple and has little to no hassles at all.

As you can see, laptops can really be affordable if purchased through these means. Thus, if you were planning or considering the purchase of laptop computer you may want to shop around for these offers and choose whether to buy your laptop with your credit card or by requesting a small loan specifically created for this purpose. In any case, you can get a great deal and repay the money in affordable installments.

Make Printing Smooth and Easy - Working with a Printing Company

Be sure to obtain a printing company that will match to your project demands and specifications. Picking out a printer that you can easily coordinate with is not always easy to find. With all the rules and requirements in printing, where or how would you be able to pick out one from a host of Los Angeles printing company or online printers?

Steps to Easy, Flawless Printing

There are several ways for you to successfully achieve your printing projects, and yet there are more ways to do it wrong. Follow these ideas and see yourself to an easy project without the hassle.

1. Identify what are your priorities.

Try to see what are the most difficult parts of your project. Assess too which print product and details are really needed. Know when such prints are needed, what detail can be easily done or those that take up a lot of time. In this way, you don't ask yourself and your printer the impossible.

2. Set the time

Always calculate when you need your prints and how are you going to get your hands on them. Printing companies always warn clients of different turnaround time or the production time of print which is exclusive of shipping time, holidays and weekends.

Added to this, always keep progress of your prints. If you are going for mailing service, know how long it takes to mail out a first class postcards for instance instead of bulk mailing. There are printing companies who can send out postcards in 1 - 2 days time at a certain area. Then again, nationwide transit can take 2 -3 business days. Again, all of these depends upon the mailing service you obtain.

3. Rush it!

If you are meeting a deadline you cannot simply risk, opt for a printer that can offer your rush printing services. You can go ahead and opt for digital printing for faster turnaround time of your prints. But then again, there are still printing companies who can offer you a fast turnaround time of as much as 2 days for a huge volume of prints.

4. Custom Service

If the product specifications you need are not on the site of a printing company you are looking at, chances are your project demands would require custom printing.

Always consult with a printing company the demands of your custom print. Check the print quotes and the turnaround time for these may vary.

5. Personalized Service

Be sure to have a printing company in your reach who can attend to your needs. Your projects are different from other people and would require different amount of concentration or attention.

It helps to have a technical service that you may need at any event. Design assistance too would prove to be handy. Free consultations are generally made for user or clients' satisfaction to make printing generally uncomplicated.

Find a printing expert, whether this be a Los Angeles printing company, an online printer, or any local printer. Just be sure to gauge what you need and the capacity of your printer to accommodate your needs and complete a successful printing.

Understanding Battery Life - Part 3

In my previous two installments of Understanding Battery Life we reviewed what battery life means; how battery life is measured; what factors determine and impact battery life; when do batteries begin to lose life; and how the internal battery design limits the overall capability of the battery. In part 3 of Understanding Battery Life I want to look at two aspects of battery usage that reduces battery life and they are: individual usage patterns and internal technical factors.

Individual Usage Patterns

Using your battery, even only once, will initiate battery degradation. Battery degradation the eventual loss of battery life begins when a user activates their battery (even only once). Furthermore once battery degradation begins there is no stopping it! Activating a battery can be done by charging a battery, connecting a battery to a device, opening a battery or any other actions that would chemically activate the battery! The reason why is because connecting a device for example to a battery creates a closed pathway through which current and the electrons flow through the device to the positive electrode. At the same time, an electrochemical reaction takes place inside the batteries to replenish the electrons. The effect is an electrochemical process that creates electrical energy.

Beyond that first cause in battery degradation there is very little a person can do to speed up the degradation except for the following: use the battery. That is a long-winded way of saying that if you use you will lose it!

I do not mean to say never use your battery – that is not the point – in fact how silly would it be to buy a battery and never use it! The fact of the matter is is that if you were to buy a battery and store it for say 5 years there is a good chance that it would not perform to spec for you because of its age.

If you buy a battery to use in your PDA or other mobile device then of course use it but be aware that by using your battery you are consuming its natural life. The battery was made to be used, to be consumed, and to power your device. So, what we as battery users complain about (short battery life) is not a necessarily a bad battery or a problematic battery (not including potential battery defects) but simply the designed life cycle of the battery.

Before we move to the internal technical factors that affect battery life it is well to point out that using your battery as the primary source for powering your device's accessories will deplete your batteries capacity faster.

Internal Technical Factors

As pointed out above a battery over time degrades and eventually stops working, this is no surprise, but why this occurs is really a fascinating yet technical process. The reasons are complex issues that are way beyond user control and are wholly contained within your battery and within your device! As we will see these issues (declining capacity, increasing internal resistance, elevated self-discharge, and premature voltage cut-off on discharge) do more to cause Battery Degradation and Power Loss than your typical portable device owner could ever do.

Declining Capacity

Declining capacity is when the amount of charge a battery can hold gradually decreases due to usage, aging, and with some chemistry's a lack of maintenance. PDA batteries, for example, are specified to deliver about 100 percent capacity when new but after usage and aging a pda battery's capacity will drop. This is normal. If you are using a pda battery (or any lithium-ion or lithium-polymer battery) when your battery's capacity reaches 60% to 70% the pda battery will need to be replaced. Standard industry practice will warranty a battery above 80%. Below 80% typically means you have used the practical life of a battery. Thus the threshold by which a battery can be returned under warranty is typically 80%.

Loss of Charge Acceptance

The loss of charge acceptance of the Li‑ion/polymer batteries is due to cell oxidation. Cell oxidation is when the cells of the battery lose their electrons. This is a normal process of the battery charge creation process. In fact every time you use your battery a loss of charge acceptance occurs (the charge loss allows your battery to power your device by delivering electrical current to your device). Capacity loss is permanent. Li‑ion/polymer batteries cannot be restored with cycling or any other external means. The capacity loss is permanent because the metals used in the cells run for a specific time only and are being consumed during their service life.

Internal Resistance

Internal resistance, known as impedance, determines the performance and runtime of a battery. It is a measure of opposition to a sinusoidal electric current. A high internal resistance curtails the flow of energy from the battery to a device. The aging of the battery cells contributes, primarily, to the increase in resistance, not usage. The internal resistance of the Li‑ion batteries cannot be improved with cycling (recharging). Cell oxidation, which causes high resistance, is non-reversible and is the ultimate cause of battery failure (energy may still be present in the battery, but it can no longer be delivered due to poor conductivity).

Elevated Self-Discharge

All batteries have an inherent self-discharge. The self-discharge on nickel-based batteries is 10 to 15 percent of its capacity in the first 24 hours after charge, followed by 10 to 15 percent every month thereafter. Li‑ion battery's self-discharges about five percent in the first 24 hours and one to two percent thereafter in the following months of use. At higher temperatures, the self-discharge on all battery chemistries increases. The self-discharge of a battery increases with age and usage. Once a battery exhibits high self-discharge, little can be done to reverse the effect.

Premature Voltage Cut-Off

Some devices like PDAs do not fully utilize the low-end voltage spectrum of a battery. The PDA device itself, for example cuts off before the designated end-of-discharge voltage is reached and battery power remains unused. For example, a PDA that is powered with a single-cell Li‑ion battery and is designed to cut-off at 3.7V may actually cut-off at 3.3V. Obviously the full potential of the battery and the device is lost (not fully utilized). Why? It could be something with elevated internal resistance and or PDA operations at warm ambient temperatures. PDAs that load the battery with current bursts are more receptive to premature voltage cut-off than analog equipment. High cut-off voltage is mostly equipment related, not battery.

Concluding Remarks

Now to conclude this 3 part series of Understanding Battery Life lets recap. In part 1 of the series we looked at look at what battery life means; how battery life is measured; what factors determine battery life; and finally when do batteries begin to lose life. In part 2 we looked at the internal design of batteries as their designed potential. Finally in this article we looked at how individual usage patterns and internal technical factors ultimately cause batteries to fail.

Nokia 6500 Slide Review

No one needs an introduction to Nokia. We all know about the company. Let us take a look at one of the pieces that interested me a lot, the Nokia 6500 slide phone. Last year in the month of May, Nokia announced the release of two phones in the 6500 series. The 6500 classic is also a sleek mobile phone but it is fairly simple as compared to the phone we are about to review. The 6500 slide mobile phone interests me with its slide factor, its stainless steel body work and its camera. It has an auto focus digital camera with Carl Zeiss lenses. This phone is as sleek as it can get. It does not fail to impress. The body boasts a brushed stainless steel finish and some evidently hard coating which should help protect your phone from those awful scratches and marks. The Nokia 6500 slide also sports a very good battery. The battery provides you with 6 hours of talk time and about 310 hours on standby.

One of the best features of the phone is its 3.2 mega pixel camera with Carl Zeiss lense. This handy gadget has the ability to share videos, pictures and video calls on television. The colour display is fantastic and has the ability to display up to 16 million colours; hence viewing websites on your phone is fun.

There is no doubt that while designing this amazing hand phone that maximum usability was kept in mind. The phone provides large keys and perfect balance which makes it easy to use. The slide mechanism which is a big hit nowadays works well on this phone. The phone provides you with a built in Mp3 player which basically means you can enjoy your favourite music on your phone. Think about it, with this one phone, you can rid yourself of having to carry a camera or an I-pod or disk man. I vote this phone as a keeper.

Accounting Software 411 Looks At Escape Velocity Systems Auditing and Security for Process Manufacturers

by Thomas Cutler

When one food manufacturer has to contend with hundreds of recipes, ingredient variations, and multiple batches in a single production run, the possibilities for errors are enormous. Seemingly at odds, lean manufacturing principles call for productivity gains which are increasingly dependant upon speeding up the flow of sensitive data throughout the enterprise. This paradox is felt most significantly by thin margined formula-based food processors; according to manufacturing journalist Thomas R. Cutler who recently profiled the role of advanced auditing and security for the process manufacturing sector in the January issue of Accounting Software 411.

While discrete manufacturing systems are generally designed around a bill of material containing whole, or discrete quantities of materials (such as 1 axle, 2 tires), process manufacturing systems are driven by formulas (such as 90% water, 10% flavoring.) Process manufacturers usually blend or mix materials rather than cutting, shaping, or assembling hard goods. Hybrid manufacturers combine process and discrete components. A good example would be a cosmetic company that mixes a batch of lip stick bulk and fills the bulk into a base container (process manufacturing), then assembles this into a finished product with a packaging and label bill of material (discrete manufacturing).

Like the Colonel's secret recipe, proprietary data is managed through an ERP (enterprise resource planning) system which must be guarded from malicious data tampering. As with regulations, like Sarbanes-Oxley, companies are held accountable for the data that is produced from their ERP system; few have the necessary tools to ensure that the data is managed appropriately by the authorized personnel (although most make claims to the contrary.)

According to Evan Garber, President of Escape Velocity Systems (www.evs-sw.com), which specializes in formula-based process manufacturing, "Advanced auditing and security functionality is not simply preventing unauthorized data manipulation...risk management, it provides a context for a data management plan that includes process improvement."

Advanced Auditing and Security Drives Continued Process Improvement

Some of the features that technology solutions must provide, particularly among process manufacturers include: * User accountability for one's actions * Managing ancillary attached data (such as Excel or Word attachments) through an approval, lockdown, and version control process * Managing efficiency of electronic document handling

The term escape velocity refers to the speed that is necessary for an object to overcome gravity and soar into space. EVS provides direct applications for businesses looking for a catalyst, not just a software package. Process manufacturers require the best software solution coupled with industry experience that will accelerate the velocity with which they race towards their goals. The gravity of status-quo opposes aggressive, cutting edge organizations as they strive towards high quality and short lead time delivery while reducing inventories and operating costs.

Mobile Number Searching

They are attempting to improve their mobile search services, by introducing features such as SMS search queries. Mobile Search Engines as you can probably imagine the main focus of all guidelines concentrates on ensuring that websites load quickly and accurately and that the content and site is easy to navigate. Get Local Search Results on your Cell Phone Add convenience to the search, since Google brought out Local Mobile Search in March 2005.

Podcasting, blogging, mobile search, and video have yet to see their peaks. The major search engines already have mobile search engines in some cases; probably the most notable expectedly being Google's own addition.

In a crowd of mobile users, confusion may arise if all their ringtones will sound off at the same time, which is why a specific radio frequency signal is allotted for each mobile user through their mobile numbers. Signs of bad Induction program are Too Short - during induction a new entrant should just not give the mobile numbers or small brief as always remember either a person should have or should not have knowledge. Half knowledge leads to disaster. Calls can be diverted to UK and international fixed and mobile numbers accordingly.

If you are a frequent international traveler, you would be glad to know that Matrix Cellular offers local mobile numbers for almost 30 countries to help you keep your international roaming costs low.

Aside from the name that is listed with the cell phone number, a reverse mobile phone search can also provide additional information like the address and other contact details of the individual. It was very important to me that I had reliable information, and if it's important to you that you get the correct information on people you're looking for, I recommend that you use Reverse Mobile. Reverse Mobile is hands down to the 1 Reverse Phone Service on the Internet.

The Reverse phone lookup service that I used was called Reverse Mobile. Cell Phone reverse Lookup - Reverse Cell Phone Numbers - Find Cell Phone Numbers - Free cell phone lookup - Address lookup-Reverse Mobile lookup.

Retractable iPhone Earbud: You Can Find Tangle-Free Earbuds with Great Sound

by Star Smith

Are you one of those people that tends to get tangled up in cords while you̢۪re talking or listening to entertainment on your iphone?

You̢۪re not alone. While earbuds are a great invention, they̢۪re famous for becoming tangled in endless knots. You love them when you̢۪re walking or standing around and being active, because those earbuds are made for mobility, and that̢۪s great.

When you sit down and relax, that̢۪s when they become a real pain. All you wanna do is listen to your favorite tune or have a nice phone conversation with a friend. However, those darn cords are all tangled up in your lap and you keep trying to adjust them or move them out of the way, with minimal success.

Wouldn̢۪t it be great if there were a set of earbuds for your iphone that actually eliminated those messy cords forever?

You̢۪re in luck, because headphone manufacturers are now making retractable earbuds for iphones. They realize that there are lots of people like you out there who like things neat and tidy.

That̢۪s great, so how do they work?

The earbuds retractability comes from a spring loaded disc that stores the cord when not in use. There is usually a simple mechanism that allows the cord to stay in place when you pull it out of the disc. Depending on the model, you just need to give it a tug or two, then it winds back around the disc.

Now lets talk about cord length. Your satisfaction with the length of the retractable earbud cord will vary depending on your height and activity level. While their length is generally fine for sitting, if you are a tall person, you may find that it doesn̢۪t quite extend as far as you̢۪d like. If this is the case, you̢۪ll need to resort to some creative ways to accommodate this shortcoming, like clipping it to a shirt or jacket pocket.

Sound quality is another feature that you want to look for when purchasing iphone retractable earbuds. You should be able to easily switch back and forth from talking on the phone, to listening to music, or perhaps watching a TV show on your iphone in private.

The best earbuds will be a comfortable fit inside your eardrums while you enjoy rich, beautiful sound that’s not â€Å“tinnyâ€ or full of static. They will usually come with a volume control as well. You also want to make sure you can be heard on the other end clearly.

Now a stylish set of retractable earbuds like the Seidio brand will cost you around $47.00 …#34; not cheap, but not a huge investment either. Of course, a cheaper pair might work just as well, but you’ll have to do a little research to make sure you don’t end up wasting good money for a cheapie pair of earbuds that don’t perform the way you expect.

Not everyone needs to have retractable earbuds, but if you desire the hassle-free functionality of not having to worry about tangled cords while enjoying your iphone, these earbuds are perfect for your needs.

How Ham Radio Operators Enjoy Their Hobby Through Contact With People All Over The World

The most popular ways for amateur radio enthusiasts, otherwise known as ham operators, to enjoy their pastime involve contacting people over their radio sets. This hobby is virtually unlimited as radio hobbyists reach people from different countries all around the globe. They contact people from other cultures, learning about different ways that people live.

Sometimes, there are contests for radio hobbyists where the ham operators contact as many people as they can in a given amount of time. In this case, only basic information is shared. The first things the radio hobbyist will find out are the other's location and station. The zone, region, and particular place are important too. The radio operator gets this information, signs off, and moves on to another contact.

DX-ing is a way of using the radio to contact as many Distant Stations from as many parts of the world as you can. DX-ing QSO means that you are having conversations with people in these far-flung places.

DX-peditions are another way radio hobbyists use their talents. They get together and organize group efforts to contact stations that are remote or special in some other way. The region itself may be far removed from civilization. Sometimes there is travel involved, as ham operators try to reposition themselves to reach these remote stations better. Radio scanners are also used, as they can search for a strong signal.

Another part of the amateur radio pastime is acquiring QSL cards. QSL is a set of three-letter codes. The codes were set up for use with commercial radiotelegraph systems. They were then adopted by amateur radio buffs who continue to use them to this day, even though they are no longer considered essential for amateur radio.

A QSL card can be used as a proof of contact card. This means that whenever radio hobbyists contact other operators through DX-ing and DX-peditions, they can show that they have actually contacted that station. Each station that makes contact will send a QSL card by mail. This proves that contact was made.

These cards can stack up to recognition because they show how good the operator is at contacting other stations. If you want to get more awards and recognition, one way is to make contact with the most remote regions where there are few operators.

Radio hobbyists can also enjoy their pastime by banding together with others who have the same interests. Hamfests are held frequently where the family and friends of ham operators have social events to share their experiences and simply have fun. There is also room at these events for sales and exchanges of equipment.

It may be possible for some people to meet familiar ham operators at these events. In other words, they may have talked to them for years, but never before had the chance to speak face to face. Best iPhone Cases: The New Stylish Designer iPhone Cases

by Star Smith

You've just made one of the most exciting purchases of the decade …#34; you bought an Apple iphone!

Congratulations.

I bet when you took it out of the box, you sat there for a moment staring at its sleek, shiny high-tech newness with admiration. Wow, look at that big, beautiful screen. You turned it on and played with it a bit, got a feel for what it's like to hold it in your eager little hands.

So far, it meets your expectations, maybe even a little bit more. You can't wait to show it off to your friends and co-workers. You think about all the phone conversations you'll be having on this beauty. How you'll be surfing the internet for information, how you'll be using Google Maps to help you find where you're going. Maybe you'll listen to some music and play a game or two every day.

That's what the iphone is for …#34; it's the ultimate multimedia gadget for today's busy world. Then it hits you that you've just invested $400 (or more) on this baby and you need to protect your much loved investment from getting scratched, or dropped and broken.

So, the next thing that pops into your head is that you've got to get a nice carrying case for your iphone, and fast. Even though the iphone is relatively new, there are some good, quality iphone cases on the market. The selection ranges from hip to cool practicality.

Here are some of the options available for designer iphone cases:

iPhone Leather Case

Along with the enormous popularity of the iphone, new leather cases are coming out that offer excellent protection and style all in one. Leather cases are a very popular choice amongst iphone users.

The new Orion case claims to fit your iphone like a glove. It features a simple elongated design with a pull tab that allows you to easily remove your iphone from the case. The color options are great. In addition to black, they have nine colors to choose from, including pink, white and green.

For those who are looking for a more practical style, HipCase offers a sturdy leather holster style case for the iphone. This case features a flip up top and cut out openings. It's horizontal so that you can easily clip it to your belt or inside of a purse pocket. So far, it only comes in black, but the upside is that it is very sturdy.

iPhone Soft Polycarbonate Case

Polycarbonate is a sturdy form of plastic that is temperature and impact resistant. They are a great material for iphone cases. Cozip makes a wonderful polycarbonate case for the iphone that is very slim and fashionable. It feels rubbery to the touch, which prevents accidental slippage and has openings for the camera lens, volume control and headset jack, which means you can use your phone while it's sitting in the case. Colors are black, silver white, pink and red.

iPhone Silicone Case

Silicone cases are already popular for the ipod, and if you already have one for your ipod then you'll be pleased to know you can get one for your iphone as well. Silicone cases offer easy grip and great protection from scratches. Marware makes a nice silicone case for the iphone that covers the back and leaves the screen wide open for use. There is a clear film screen protector that comes with the case, which prevents scratches. This case comes in black, clear and pink.

As you can see, there are plenty of great choices for iphone cases. Selecting the best case for you is really a matter of personal preference.

The Specifications Of DVD Players And Displays For A Home Theater System

by Tony Scorch

You will need a reliable display image for your television. If your budget can't extend to purchase the pricey ones, then you can find something that's financially suitable for you. Find out the size of the image you need, and the location of the screen. Make sure the measurements are in alignment with what you plan to purchase. There must be enough lighting in order for you and others to see the picture. You can choose from LCD or plasma flat panels, front projectors, or rear projection televisions. As far as size is concerned, the flat panels and the rear projection televisions are good for wide screen, high-definition showings. Front projectors also show in large screen projections, and the pictures are sharp and clear.

Video inputs and outputs show how signals are transmitted into a television from a DVD player. There are several types of inputs. Component inputs provide the video signal's color and brightness using three wires that are not connected to each other. The resolution on an S-Video input is clean and uses one wire. High definition video sources use HDMI to achieve the best quality.

Television show 480i output is 480 video scan lines in a connecting format. Other DVD players use the same type of output. This output is better suited for high-definition televisions. DVD players that use a higher conversion also produced resolution that is high-definition resolution output. This type of output is derived from a regular DVD. Utterance creates these resolutions; however, the picture output is not the best. In order to get the best quality pictures, they should be done by high-definition DVD players or Blu-ray discs that produce top notch output.

At least five speakers (up to seven) are needed for your DVD players or high-definition televisions shows to produce top notch surround sound. A subwoofer would add a better quality bass sound. If you don't have much room, you'll only need a few speakers of very good quality. When you get a bigger room to install a larger home theater system, you can add more.

High-definition television showings will receive a better picture quality if your screen is 30 inches or more and if you purchase a high-definition display. There are different resolutions of the screens; even with that, there may not much difference in that unless you purchase a very large screen. Or, you would have to sit very close to it and that's not a good idea.

With DVD players, they can play CDs as well as DVD movies and videos. They can also play CD-Rs and CD-RWs that have MP3 music or speaking on it. In addition to the other DVD formats, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW and DVD-RAM, some of the higher quality units can play DVD-Audio in high-resolution and SACD music. Some of higher quality ones will also accommodate Blu-ray and HD DVD formats.

It's better to have a multidisc changer for your DVD player. This way, if you want to mix it with CDs, you can do so. Or if you want to put in more than one DVD movie, you can do that. This way, you won't have to get up every time the movie ends. You can sit comfortable knowing that your home theater system is set up just right.

Buying Monitors Online

By Bill Pratt

Buying new monitors online is an easy task - well if you know the basics of computer monitors. The first thing you would need to decide on would be the type of monitor you would be getting. There are two primary options: LCD, which stands for Liquid Crystal Display and the CRT, which stands for Cathode Ray Tube. There are some LCD monitors that are also called TFT or Thin Film Transistor. These would be the higher quality LCD monitors that employ an active matrix.

CRT monitors are typically cheaper and could be bought in larger sizes, along with higher resolutions compared to LCD monitors. However, LCD monitors have flat screens and does not require a tube, giving them extremely thin casings, which would be a real space-saver. They also have sharper image quality and consume less power.

Other things you would have to think about when buying monitors online would be: the resolution, the dot pitch, refresh rate, color depth and color technology.

Resolution would be the number of pixels that a monitor is able to display. Make sure that you will not be getting a monitor with high resolution but has a small screen, as you might end up realizing that everything would be too small to see. The dot pitch would be the spaces between the screen's pixels. The refresh rate of the monitor would be the number of times that the screen could be "refreshed" per second. And lastly, for the display technology, you would have the option of selecting between the VGA or Video Graphics Array standard, which has always been a solid standard in video signal transmission to your monitor, and DVI or Digital Visual Interface standard, which allows the signals to remain digital so that there would be no signal degradation or loss as they are transmitted from the computer's video card to the monitor.

How to buy computer monitor online? While it is important to buy from popular online retailers, you can save lot of money if you look for some good deals, bargains and discount coupons at the dell coupons blog. You can buy monitors, printers, hardware, mobiles, ipods and software by using online coupons and save money in the process as well

Benefits of Internet Protocol Television (IPTV)

By Budda Oliver

Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), sometimes referred to as broadband television, is becoming an ever more popular means of receiving one's television programming. The process involves sending and receiving information in digital data "packets". This is the same method used by the Internet and other computer networks. The difference is that information pertaining to IPTV is transferred over separate, closed networks, independent of the one used for the Internet. This provides the benefit of a less congested, more efficient means of delivery, allowing for higher quality and more interactive features.

Vs. Satellite TV:

One of the most common complaints about satellite television service is that there may be a loss of signal in poor weather conditions. When the weather is particularly bad, you can lose all reception, missing your favorite shows. In some areas this is a regular problem, while others may only rarely have these problems. Also, the weather does not even need to be particularly "bad." Sometimes, only partially cloudy skies or windy conditions have been known to interfere with the satellite signal.

While satellite TV is not necessarily a poor service, IPTV does provide more reliable and higher quality service nearly every time. The weather plays virtually no direct role in the quality or consistency of IPTV service.

Another common problem with satellite television is that the satellite dish needs to have a clear view of the southwest sky. If there is a particularly high, or very close tree line or building blocking the view, service cannot be provided. This can also be a problem if you live in an apartment or condominium, which is facing the opposite direction, as there may not be a proper place to mount the satellite dish.

Vs. Traditional Cable:

Early on, consumers reported that their IPTV service was not really much better than service provided from traditional cable. With the most recent developments, however, IPTV is definitely benefiting from a competitive edge, provided by new capabilities that integrate Internet content, features, and usability into the TV set.

IPTV has many advantages over conventional cable, including high-speed internet access, video on demand, hundreds of channel choices, interactive features, on-screen caller ID, and many more benefits that traditional cable does not provide.

IPTV is growing in popularity due to these advantages over alternative television service. It is estimated that IPTV will provide service to well over 20 million households by the year 2008.

Apple iPod Touch - Like A Soft Portable Media Player

By Samuel Herrick

The Apple iPod Touch portable media player designed and marketed by Apple Inc. comes into the market featuring a multi-touch interface that makes it attractive. The iPod Touch was unveiled to the general public on September 5, 2007, creating a heavy demand for the gadget. The iPod touch comes with a 8 or 16 GB of flash memory. It comes with a Wi-Fi and includes Safari, the Apple's web browser.

The iPod touch holds the credit for being the first generation of the iPod line that includes wireless access to the iTunes Store. It comes with the capability to detect the current and last 10 songs playing in a Starbucks café within the area of the device, and provides the user with the opportunity to download the tracks in the iTunes music store. Apple for now has no plans to expand into stores other than those in the U.S.

The Apple Touch comes with a touch screen interface that is almost same as that of iPhone. This model has a physical home button separate from the touch screen like in iPhone. The home screen comes with a headphone set, an alarm clock and also a list of buttons corresponding to the available applications. The Touch arrives with 28 wallpaper photos, some of which are figures from the iPod advertisements.

The Wi-Fi capabilities of the iPod Touch can also be utilised for the purchasing of music from the iTunes Store wirelessly. The prima facie reviews of the iPod touch finds some differences compared to Apple's similar iPhone. The new model is missing the facilities of iPhone including e-mail, mapping and stock tracking applications, even though they could be added in through an action called a Jailbreak. It also lacks Bluetooth capability. There were also early complaints that the device's screen could not properly display shades of black. But this problem was later resolved with the firmware update.

Using Excel for Statistical Analysis - Terms You Should Understand Before You Start

Excel provides an almost countless number of statistical tools you can use to analyze data and make meaningful statements about it. However, without understanding the definitions of the statistical terms that Excel uses, the statistical tools offer little help.

Accordingly, this article supplies some background information about Excel's statistical tools and also defines the important statistical terms used by Excel.

Distinguishing between types of data

The science of statistics makes a fundamental distinction between two types of data sets, population data and sample data. A population is the set of all elements of interest, while a sample is a subset of that population, drawn to make inferences about the characteristics of the population.

For example, if you want to describe the average number of televisions in American households, you can't possibly collect data for the entire population (all American households). Instead, you must draw a sample from the population and make an estimate about the whole population based on that sample.

Unless otherwise stated, the Excel functions make a critical assumption regarding the process used to select the sample: they assume that the sample drawn was drawn at random, so in this case, every household would have the same likelihood (probability) of being selected.

Tip: When making statements about a population, it is wise to verify the selection process used to form the sample. For example, if the sample were formed by randomly selecting entries from a phone book, this is not random selection of the sample-it excludes households with unlisted numbers or no telephones and includes households with multiple telephone book entries multiple times. The households don't have the same probability of being selected.

Elements versus Variables

When describing the data in a set, each member of the set is called an element. So if you're describing customers, each customer is an element. The characteristics of interest in the elements are called variables. So if you're looking at annual income, age, and sales, these would be your variables.

The experimenter manipulates the independent variable and measures the dependent variable after the manipulation to see whether it experienced any effects. A random variable describes the outcome of an experiment numerically. It can take on different values or ranges with certain probabilities. The collective group of measurements obtained for an element is called an observation.

Probability Distributions

The term probability refers to the likelihood that an event will happen. Probabilities range between 0 (impossible) and 1 (inevitable).

A probability distribution graphically depicts how probabilities are distributed over discrete values or ranges of the random variable. Probability distributions can take on several shapes. For example, a uniform probability distribution is rectangular-it occurs when there's an equal probability for every value of the random variable.

Another common probability distribution is the normal or bell curve. This occurs when there's a relatively high probability of a random variable taking a certain value or range and a symmetrically diminishing probability as you move away from this value.

Discrete versus Continuous Variables

A discrete variable is one that can't fall to an infinite number of digits. For example, the number of children in a family is a discrete number, in this case a non-negative integer. A continuous variable, on the other hand, can take on a value with any number of digits. For example, you can theoretically calculate the time it takes a person to run a mile down to the smallest fraction of a second.

The probability, therefore, of a continuous random variable taking a particular value is zero. Note that statistics calculated from discrete variables are continuous variables. So you can say that the average number of children in a family is, for example, 2.3, although no family could have 2.3 children.

Events

An event is a collection of outcomes that share a condition. For example, you could call all outcomes in which a project goes over budget or in which a lot of goods is rejected an event.

An Excel-specific term: Logical Values

One final term that Excel uses in its statistical manipulations needed to be defined--the term "logical value."

In Excel, the term logical value refers to a value (usually textual) that Excel returns when you enter a conditional function in a cell. A conditional function is an equation that returns a result based on whether the cell meets the condition specified.

For example, you can ask Excel to display the word TRUE if a value in a cell is greater than 100 or FALSE if it is less than or equal to 100. The most common logical values are TRUE and FALSE, but you can create your own logical values as well. For example, you can tell Excel to display the word PASS if a value in a cell is greater than or equal to 50 or FAIL if it is less than 50.

Correlation Measurements with Microsoft Excel

Excel provides useful statistical functions for measuring correlation between two variables. As a reminder, the benefit of using a correlation coefficient to measure the relationship between two variables as opposed to using covariance is that the unit of measurement doesn't matter.

But a caution: Remember that correlation does not show causation. That is, you could easily show that as the number of ice cream cones consumed increases during a year, so does the number of drownings. But this does not mean that eating ice cream causes people to drown-more likely, these variables are both independently related to another variable-that of temperatures. Correlation is symmetrical, so you get the same coefficient if you switch the variables. Don't calculate a correlation coefficient if you manipulated one of the variables. Use linear regression instead.

CORREL

You use the CORREL function in Excel to determine whether two data sets are related, and if so, how strongly. The correlation coefficient ranges from +1, indicating a perfect positive linear relationship, to -1, indicating a perfectly negative linear relationship. To calculate a correlation coefficient for a sample, Excel uses the covariance of the samples and the standard deviations of each sample. To use the CORREL function in Excel, just select the two sets of data to use as the arguments and use the following syntax:

=CORREL(data set 1,data set 2)

For example, if you have a set of preliminary test scores for a sample of employees in column A and a set of performance feedback scores in column B, as shown in Figure 4-6, and you want to find out whether they're related and if so, how strongly, you can use Excel to find the correlation coefficient for the samples.

The function returns the value 0.87, indicating that the sets are positively related (as the value of one goes up, the value of the other also increases), but the relationship isn't perfect.

PEARSON

The Pearson product moment correlation coefficient function, PEARSON, uses a different equation for calculating the correlation coefficient. This formula doesn't require the computation of each deviation from the mean. Still, the correlation coefficient ranges from +1, indicating a perfect positive linear relationship, to -1, indicating a perfectly negative linear relationship. The PEARSON function uses the following syntax:

=PEARSON(data set 1,data set 2)

Using the PEARSON function on the data shown in Figure 4-6 to compute the correlation coefficient returns the same value as the CORREL function does.

RSQ

The RSQ function calculates the square of the Pearson product moment correlation coefficient through data points in the data sets. You can interpret the r-squared value as the proportion of the variance in y attributable to the variance in x. The RSQ function uses the following syntax: =RSQ(data set 1,data set 2)

Commodities Trading Software - Use Specialized Software To Practice Commodities Trading

Everybody wants a better life, which is much more probable to achieve when you have more money to work for you. It is true that money cannot buy happiness, but the absence of money isn't a very happy situation either. That is the basic reason why people work or start business.

In any sort of work relationship, it is all about trade. You either trade a service in return for money or you trade a product in return for money when it comes down to the basic level of thought.

But unfortunately, very often the money that you make just doesn't seem enough to make you or the family happy. People often believe they would be much happier if they had more money.

This is the reason why many people begin trading on commodities to make a better living, and the success stories are many in the field. But let us also remember that it is risky business, and many have lost more than they have made in these waters.

It is a big mistake to put in more money in the markets than what you can afford to lose. You never want to lose money of course, but remember - even when you are dead sure of how a stock is about to move, things can always go wrong. Commodities trading is for those who already have a little experience in the stock business. It is not a bad idea at all to use simulation software to get a feel of how the markets work, especially if you are a complete newbie here.

If you are into speculating, you will study the movement of stocks and when you do you will soon be able to predict how a stock will rise or fall in the next few months. When you are sure of a stock going higher, you will want to buy now and sell later when it is at a high rate. That's what commodity future trading is all about.

When you use software to simulate the changes in stock you will get a good feel of the surprises that the stock markets can throw at you.

But do remember that the real world is unpredictable at times. For instance if your studies show that the price of a stock of a certain crop is on its way up, natural disasters can cause a failure of the crop, which in turn would knock it out of the stock markets as well.

Whether you are into the stock business to make an extra income, or if you want to get into futures commodity trading full time, be sure you get a feel by using a simulation software before you make the decision.

Computer Crafting Is Easier Than Ever Before

Why not try your hand at computer crafting? This type of crafting work has become quite popular over the past few years. Particularly with all the readily available and inexpensive software out on the market these days it really is quite easy. Another fact about computer crafting are the vast numbers of websites devoted to all sorts of crafting possibilities. Computer crafting today combines some of the older crafting concepts with modern technology. Remember those iron-on transfers when you were a kid? With an inkjet printer and graphics software anyone can create their very own t-shirt transfers in a matter of minutes.

The best part is you do not need expensive software in order to complete these types of crafts. There are plenty of inexpensive and even free graphics programs that you can use to get your project completed. If you find yourself without any graphics software on your computer now, do a quick search on any of the big Search Engines for "free graphics software," you will receive plenty of results.

Remember, with technology today, even using graphics software is as simple as clicking away at your mouse. Plus with the availability of free images, fonts and other graphics you do not have to be artistic. Staying Organized with Palm Centro Smart Phone

By Michael Ferrerya

In the days of fast paced living, everyone needs a little something to keep them organized. The Palm Centro Smart Phone does just that and keeps it all in the palm of your hand. This phone features everything needed to stay organized and ahead of the game. There are contacts, calendars, task lists, memo features and so much more. With the Palm Centro Smart Phone at your side, it has never been easier to keep your life all in one place.

Starting with the contacts feature, the options for organization here are limitless. Traditional cell phones allowed for the storage of cell phone numbers and one or two other numbers needed to contact a person. This phone changes all of that. In addition to keeping phone numbers, there are spaces available to keep an email address. In the technological world of today, people are increasingly having website addresses to keep in touch as well. This phone provides for the storage of that information. There are places to keep track of important dates for a contact like a birthday or anniversary. These dates are displayed in the contacts entry and on the phone's calendar.

Speaking of calendars, the Palm Centro Smart Phone allows for the outdated planner book to be left at home. Virtually all aspects of a busy schedule can be kept on the phone's calendar feature. A person can keep a personal schedule right on the same page as the business schedule. There is no longer a need to juggle two books with two different schedules and fearing of leaving one behind. Depending on the user, the calendar view is available in day, week, month or year formats. At the touch of a button, a person can have all of life's precious moments at a glance. Never miss another personal celebration or business meeting again.

Every busy person keeps a to-do list. Whether the list is kept mentally or jotted down on paper during the morning cup of coffee. It is a part of everyday life. With the Palm Centro Smart Phone, this to-do list is now available in the palm of your hand. Simply use the full keyboard to enter the list in every morning. As the day progresses, items completed can be checked off. At the end of the day, the phone provides a visual look at what was accomplished in a day and what can be tackled tomorrow. Another entry method is utilizing the included USB cable to connect to a home computer for faster input of information or related files.

Much like the to-do list feature, the Palm Centro Smart Phone has a memo feature. Use this feature to jot down ideas for a kid's Halloween costume, the shopping list for dinner or notes for the next board meeting. Whatever the purpose, this phone lets you keep track of it in one convenient place. Never again worry about losing that little sticky note or spend countless hours sorting through stacks of notes. Life suddenly just got a little easier. With the organizational tools provided by the Palm Centro Smart Phone, a person frees up time to spend playing with this great phone.
