Computer Help: Where To Get Help With Your Computer Problems

By H Wilbanks

Regardless of how much you know about computers, or how well you maintain it, computer problems are inevitable. The good news is that there are many easy ways to find computer help when you need it.

1. Use your computer's help files. Don't forget that your computer comes with a built-in help system, designed for sticky situations on the computer. This is your basic free computer help, and it is pretty useful. Your computer's help files can help guide you through basic computer usage problems. You can often do this by using the Troubleshooting section, which prompts you with questions regarding your computer problem.

2. Technical computer help desk online. If you run into problems with computer software, go to the software manufacturer's website. Almost all software manufacturers provide technical computer support online today.

3. Online computer help. You can also get a ton of online computer help by searching for specific websites for your computer problem. There are endless "fan" websites available online. These forums and group sites can prove to be a valuable resource of online computer help. Best of all, they're almost always free!

4. Computer problem help lines. Don't forget that your computer and software almost always come with computer problem help lines, too. Also called support lines, they are manned with live computer support technicians who can help you solve your computer issues in a timely manner. Be aware, though, that many computer problem help lines do charge for their services.

5. Live free computer help. Just like online computer help websites and forums, you can find live free computer help by checking resources like your local library, newspaper, and computer stores. Call ahead and ask if they provide free computer help. Often times, they're willing to give you some one-on-one computer technical support if they think you might make a purchase in their store.

Computer help can be easy to find. Think outside the box. Check locally. Sometimes the solution to your computer problems is right at your fingertips.
